Labradorite
Appearance: Labradorite is transparent to translucent.
Labradorite can be colorless, white, gray, light blue, light green, pale orange, red, or black.
There is an optical effect specific to Labradorite called “Labradorescense”. This is a play of color caused by internal fractures in the mineral that reflect light back and forth, which appear as a blue or green sheen, or a spectrum of color.
One variety of labradorite found in Finland is known as “Spectrolite”. Spectrolite shows the “Schiller” effect with dark reds, orange, yellow, blues and green color flashes.

Facts: Labradorite was first found in 1770 on Labrador Peninsula in Canada.
Legend is that Northern Lights shown down on the shores of Labrador and were captured inside these colorful stones.
